Smart Solutions for Mastering the Journey to Net Zero Production

Best in Class Flexibility and Efficiency for Maximum Asset Profitability

Energy Transition is a journey! We are already on the move to a CO2 neutral future and more regions like Southeast Asia are joining. We’ve gained a lot of experiences on how to reduce CO2 emissions in energy generation and perform economically efficient at the same time. We can support you on this path!

Many investors, utilities and independent power producers have embarked on their journey towards a net-zero power generation and, as a consequence, are looking at managing and optimising increasingly diverse energy portfolios consisting of both conventional power and renewable energy asset technologies. In order to fast-track the energy transition, asset management strategies for renewables prioritise reliability, efficiency and predictability whereas thermal plants are being modified to cope with the increasing demand for a flexible but efficient mode of operation.

We would like to illustrate you the vast techno-commercial potential of our holistic solutions in relation to smart maintenance planning, dispatch strategies and efficiency improvement of wind and solar PV projects. Concerning thermal power, we will show you best practices maximising individual plant’s flexibility and low carbon production. Such initiatives aim at enabling conventional power plants to fulfil their bridging role towards net zero.

Tackling today's challenges with holistic solutions

Engineering

We know the challenges of plant operation and master the entire value chain of an energy project, from project planning to implementation and long-term operation. In this process we use our expertise in decarbonisation technologies and support our customers in becoming climate-neutral in the long term. We design the energy generation process to be environmentally compatible, improve economic efficiency and ensure maximum energy availability. When optimising processes, we always keep an eye on holistic flexibility, high quality and economic benefits.

Digital Solutions

Every energy asset can be optimised for maximum efficiency and availability with sound expert knowledge and the use of our digital solutions. For this purpose, SES provides powerful IT solutions for planning, operational support and optimisation of operation and maintenance: from the simulation of thermodynamic processes, continuous process quality and condition monitoring and flexible maintenance planning and control to optimisation of every energy asset.

O&M

Only qualified operational management, structured and forward-looking maintenance ensure the success of long-term investments in energy plants. We provide our services with internationally experienced staff. The contribution can range from advisory support for existing plant management to the responsible takeover of operations management and maintenance (from management to the complete team) to holistic asset management.

Revenue up, OPEX down!

We bet there is hidden value in your systems, too! Our STEAG WINDcenter leverages the latest machine learning and AI techniques, coupled with our vast experience as an operator and developer of wind farm assets. Our advanced algorithms manage to reliably identify creeping changes and upcoming failures at a fairly early stage. Consequently, smart maintenance strategies can be established to ensure a viable and future-proof mode of operation. As an owner, operator and partner of our global customer base, the independent and objective management of asset condition forms a key principle of the solutions we offer. Let’s take your wind farm performance to the next level. Challenge us with your data!

Are you aware of real world effects of the Energy Transition on conventional power plants?

Are you aware of real world effects of the Energy Transition on conventional power plants?

The operation of power plants is highly complex. For utilities, managing reliable plant operation with frequent start-up and shutdown procedures, different fuel qualities, and a high availability at operating costs as low as possible is both a challenge and a chance: a challenge because the high alternating stresses may reduce the lifetime and dynamic market boundary conditions are demanding forward-thinking solutions to make existing power plant assets fit for the future. A chance because a more flexible mode of operation in conjunction with smart maintenance strategies will result in a competitive edge leading to an extended and profitable unit operation. Best practices which have been successfully established in German power plants are based on innovative strategic measures combining cutting edge data science methodologies, engineering excellence and specific solutions enhancing min load capabilities and ramping to ensure a sustainable and profitable future mode of operation.

Sensaia - The AI sensation for asset management for solar and wind.

Turning waste into green fuel

Turning waste into green fuel

STEAG implements east German waste management authority’s lighthouse project on methanol synthesis - In Zella-Mehlis in southern Thuringia, the regional “Zweckverband für Abfallwirtschaft Südwestthüringen” (ZASt) operates a waste recycling plant. By the end of 2023, a production plant for synthetic methanol will be built at that site, funded by the state of Thuringia. In a demanding two-stage, Europe-wide tendering process, STEAG, together with the planning and engineering company Dr. Born - Dr. Ermel GmbH, was awarded the contract as architect engineer to design the plant and supervise its construction.

We are pioneers when it comes to large-scale battery systems

We are pioneers when it comes to large-scale battery systems

Large-scale battery systems and battery storage facilities are set to become more important to secure electricity supply. They help to integrate fluctuating renewable energy sources into the energy mix and thereby improve the reliability of supply. A pioneer in this field, STEAG is breaking new ground by deploying arge-scale battery systems. The systems are deployed to even out frequency fluctuations in the power grid which are caused by the increasing volatile supply from renewable sources and by fluctuations in consumption. Within seconds, the large-scale battery systems can take up energy from the grid or feed it into the grid. This so-called “primary reserve power” contributes to keeping the power system stable and to safeguarding the security of supply.
