Construction of an open space photovoltaic plant

    Oening, Germany

The community of Oening, Germany features a scenery typical of renewable energies. In an existing wind farm, SENS erected a 15 MWp free-standing photovoltaics plant for Altmühl-Jura Energiegenossenschaft (AJE), which are planning several PV projects in the area in order to supply the local population with renewable energy.

Therefore currently several free-standing photovoltaics plants are being planned and constructed. The first project has now been implemented by SENS – Iqony Solar Energy Solutions as EPC contractor after AJE themselves projected the solar farm.

For this purpose, more than 25,000 solar modules have been mounted in an area of 12.5 hectares; their generated energy is then fed into into the distribution grid via the Oening substation. Thus calculatorily, with an annual electricity generation of approx. 16,000 MWh, 4,000 local households can now be supplied and an estimated 8,000 tons of CO2 emissions can be saved per year.
